Have you ever wondered what a horse - zebra crossbreed might look like? Here is a picture of one.
The first recorded instance of a zebra hybrid appeared in an 1853 volume of the Naturalist's Library, which depicted the crossbreeding of a zebra and a donkey.
A mature zebra stallion will not readily cross-breed with another species of equine, especially if he has already bred mares of his own species. For this reason, the female zebra is usually crossed with a horse or donkey stallion. Zebras don't mature sexually until 4 to 6 years old, much later than the horse, which is sexually mature as young as a yearling or 18 months of age.
